1 Timothy 4:12 – “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” (NASB)
It was long ago, before the hair turned grey, I was hired by a contractor to help out on a project that needed extreme care and accuracy. However, as I walked on site that day, the foreman gave me a look. He said to me, "You look pretty young to have the experience we need for this job!" My reply was, "Give me a chance and let my work speak for itself!" Today's verse speaks to the young guns, to those probably much younger than me. It speaks to being an example to others in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. At the end of the day, the foreman called me over and said, "I was wrong to judge you for your youthful look. You did exactly what we needed!" Those were great words to hear, but I wonder how many times I didn't act as an example of those who believe in Christ… the times I missed the mark. It's never too late. We are never too old to start fresh with the things of God. That's the great thing about God. If we repent and start again, He is willing to give us another opportunity to live and be an example. So what do you say, let's not let people look down on us. Let our actions speak for us.
