John 9:10 – “So they were saying to him, “How then were your eyes opened.” (NASB)

“Try it again!” We had responded to a first aid call where the man had stopped breathing. We immediately began CPR and hooked up our defibrillator. The first two times we shocked him nothing happened, but on the third attempt, he regained a heartbeat, started breathing on his own, and even opened his eyes. Today's verse speaks of when Jesus opened the eyes of a blind man and the people asked him, “How?” Many times in life, we go about with blinders on causing us to be blind to the sin around us and blind to the sin in our own life. It isn't until we are shocked by the truth that we finally open our eyes and see the error of our ways. As the man became stronger and stronger, his family began to rejoice. When we begin to see the error of our ways and begin to live in the truth, others around us will begin to rejoice at the newness of our life. I'm sure the shock hurt the man physically, but it saved his life. So maybe we need a little hurtful shock of reality in order to jump start our life with Christ.
