Titus 2:7 (ESV) Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity…
It's a lesson no young boy wants to learn. It was our first game; I was excited to be playing for my dad's team. As the game went on, we fell further and further behind. Never giving up hope, we continued. Sadly, we lost. I remember my dad sitting us all down, and he began to share how important it was to be gracious in losing. He told us that we were not losers, and that we only lost a game. We needed to get up and shake the hands of our opponents, and do it with heart. Today's verse speaks of showing yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity and dignity. Some boys didn't want to go and shake hands, but dad insisted. He said, “One day we will learn the importance of character despite the times when things don't quite go our way.” Years later, I thought about how important it is to be a model of good works, to show integrity and dignity. It was when I studied about Jesus going to the cross. Despite the pain and suffering, He continued to show the good works of the Father teaching integrity and dignity. When He said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do," He was speaking about us! What type of model are we in all respects of life?
