Romans 8:23 – “And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.” (NASB)

Have you ever done something knowing it was wrong but continued to do it for a laugh, a joke, or to fit in? I remember the time I was hanging out with some guys, and we decided to turn a buddy’s car on its side. He didn’t think it was too funny, and I went along to be part of the crowd! Being a Christian is just the opposite – our goal is not to fit in when things are going against the will of God. We are to be part of a group –part of a family –God’s family. It is hard to grasp the love God has for us. To think that He sent Jesus knowingly to the cross and Jesus freely went all in the name of love. It didn’t end there; we have a helper with us, the Holy Spirit, to empower us to walk the walk. The key ingredient in the plan is us – our choice. Each step in our sin takes us farther away from an eternity with Him. We cannot do it ourselves. If we are really committed to standing firm upon Him, we can walk away from the sin that has kept us for so long. It takes an attitude of victory in Christ. Don’t be defeated today in your sin. Repent and walk in the freedom of God.
