Daily Devotional for Thursday September 14, 2017

Psalm 34:4 (NASB) I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.

Sometimes I had to put the magazine down. Being a firefighter and reading some of the articles about how fast things can go bad, I couldn’t handle reading any further about the dangers of the job. When we arrived at a large warehouse fully engulfed, my mind went back to an article where four firefighters lost their lives in a similar situation. I knew my crew had to enter the building. Just before we entered, I stopped and said a prayer. Today’s verse speaks about seeking the Lord and He answers and delivers us from all our fears. Walking away from the fire that day, today’s scripture came to mind. He had answered my prayer and kept me from the fears that I faced that day. If you are unsure and have fear about a current situation, follow today’s verse. Seek out the Lord, cry out to Him, sit down and ask. He will answer. His answer may not be exactly as you want, but He will answer with what you need. He will deliver you from your darkest fears and as you walk away, don’t forget to say thank you!

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
