Ephesians 5:15 – “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise.” (NASB)
It's better to put on two thin coats than one heavy coat. We had received a shipment of old used file cabinets at the office furniture place where I worked. My job was to clean them up, repaint them, and get them ready for the showroom floor. I sanded them down, primed them, and was ready to put the final coat of paint on when one of the senior guys came in the paint booth and gave me some great advice. “Take it slow and easy, it's better to put two thin coats of paint on than one heavy one. If you put too much paint on it will run.” A very wise statement! Today's verse speaks of being careful how we walk. Too often we are in a hurry and end up running around leaving drips here and there - not very wise. If I had put the paint on too heavy, I would have had to go back and re-sand it and start again. In life, if we go too fast, we may just find ourselves having to go back and do it again. I'd rather do the job right the first time, than have to spend time redoing it. How about you? Maybe we should walk as wise men, by being a little more careful how fast we go through this thing called life.
