Daily Devotional for Saturday September 09, 2017

Romans 15:5-6 (NASB) Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It started with one, then another, and another. Before you knew it, there were a whole group of people coming together with one focus. I have seen my share of tragedies, from fires, storms, floods, among others. The one thing that always amazes me is the fact that people come together to help. No matter what political party, what nationality, or religion, when there is a need people rise to the occasion. Today's verse speaks of people having the same mind with one another. Tragedy brings people together. I am sure we have all seen the pictures of the recent national disaster. Picture after picture, video after video, show people coming to the aid of their fellowman. Believe it or not, that glorifies God our Father. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all carry the same spirit, the same breath of life within us. Are we joining in and doing our part with others as one? Are we glorifying God our Father by how we live as one? Let's not wait for the next disaster to join in.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
