Daily Devotional for Tuesday October 30, 2018

Scripture:

Matthew 6:10 – “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.” (NASB)

Observation:

Being married for over 30 years, I have learned that there are times that I need to let go of what I want or think is best and to trust in my wife. Trust that she does and will do the best for our family. That means letting her will be done and letting go of mine. I can’t help but think that most of the time, when we pray, it is really trying to get God to do what we want or to get us out of a situation. Maybe just maybe we are in that situation to learn how to trust Him more or to realize that there are times when our will is not the best thing but His will is. In fact, it should always be His will. The hard part with that is it means surrendering all of ourselves to Him and His will. We don’t really like giving control of our lives to someone else. Most people will say to be careful praying His will be done because it will open up a can of worms, but if we really think for a second it should not be about us. When did we create the heavens or give up our child for the sins of the world and become the all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving God? There is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that His will is better than mine. How about yours?
