Psalms 119:18 – “Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.” (NASB)

"Always get a permit!" While speaking with an old time builder, I got some great advice. He told me to always get a permit when doing the work on a customer's home that way the work will be inspected and checked to make sure it was done right. Many years later, while going through some paperwork, I found the permits that I had acquired in doing some major work on my home. I thought about this one job where a customer didn't want to pay the money to get the permit. He said it was a waste of money. I pleaded with him to get the permit and eventually decided not to do the job. A permit made sure that we followed the laws of the township in where we were to do the work. Today's verse speaks of opening our eyes to the wonderful things of God's law. It may seem like some of the laws are troublesome to keep, but in the end, it will be for our best interest. That customer went with another contractor who didn't get the permit and had to redo the work a few years later as things began to fall apart from not being built according to code the first time. Don't be in such a rush to bypass the laws of God. In the end, it will keep us from doing things over again.
