Daily Devotional for Thursday October 25, 2018

1 Peter 1:6-7 – β€œIn this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (NASB)

Finding the right amount of pressure on the nail gun we were using meant trying it out and making adjustments: too much and it went right through, too little and it didn't go far enough. Sometimes it took more than once or twice to get the right pressure on the gauge so the nails would go in the right depth. It was trial and error to find the right place on the gauge. In life, we will be pressured due in the trials we face, some may leave us feeling like we are going to blow right through and others may leave us feeling a little short, but through them all we need to remember one thing. It's found in today's Scripture: it is that the proof of our faith, being more precious than gold, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Everyone wants to get through the tough stuff and be able to praise the victory. Let’s never forget that the greatest victory is not found in ourselves or the pressure we can handle, but in our Lord Jesus Christ. What's your gauge set at? Is it Christ?
