Mark 4:19 – “But the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” (NASB)

The sparks were flying everywhere. While helping my son-in-law rebuild an old trailer, I had to take the grinding wheel to the frame. Each time I applied the grinding wheel to the metal, the sparks began to fly. I needed to clean off the old weld spots. If we had allowed the rusted, tired metal to remain there would have been nothing to weld the new pieces onto and the trailer would have eventually given out. Today's verse speaks of the worries of the world, (who doesn't have those) the deceitfulness of riches, the desires for other things, and how those things can choke out the word and in doing so becomes unfruitful. We need to take the grinding wheel to the things in our life that cause us to be... well rusty, fatigued, and not useful anymore. Just like the trailer, there will be sparks and hard work. However, in the end, we will become useful again. Don't allow the sparks to scare you away from doing the hard work to become useful again!
