Daily Devotional for Saturday October 20, 2018

Scripture:

1 Peter 5:10 – “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” (NASB)

Observation:

What do I do now? It was a few months after having to leave a job that I loved, close down my handyman business, and tell my friend that I could no longer build houses with him, that I just sat. I sat and thought. I kept asking, “What do I do now?” My daughters had gone off to school, my wife to her job, and I sat in a quiet house and began to ask God, “Why? What now?” Slowly, I began to feel His presence and a sense of peace. I didn’t know what would come next, but I was sure that He was in control. I found strength in His word. Like today's verse shares - after we struggle a while, God will strengthen us and establish us on a new path. Life has struggles, many struggles, and sometimes we find ourselves just sitting and asking why. We may not ever know why on this side of heaven, but we can know that God will confirm us, strengthen us, and establish us IF... if we turn to Him. Nothing is too hard for God. It may be too hard for us, but with God things will begin to bring a peace that we find comfort in. Hang in there, turn to God, and feel His peace.
