Daily Devotional for Monday October 16, 2017

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (NASB) A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.

We all have those days. Days that you will never forget. When the things of life seem to take you on a roller coaster of emotions. You spend time thinking of a loved one taken too early, a time when you rejoice with friends, a time you find out a loved one has passed, then a time when you hear good news of a pregnancy. Then comes the end of that day, and you think to yourself, “How can there be such a day?” Today's verse speaks of a time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance. You realize that through it all, God was there. We may not always understand why and how God works, but we do know that He is in control. Sometimes that thought of not being in control can frustrate us and cause us to question why. It is during those times, those days when we must submit to Him above all - above the weeping, the laughter, the mourning and the dancing, and thank Him for the opportunities to love. For in all of those moments, weeping, laughing, mourning and dancing, it is the love that binds us together. So, whatever you're going through, remember the love. It helps when things seem out of our control.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
