Psalms 39:6 – “Surely every man walks about as a phantom; Surely they make an uproar for mothering; He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.” (NASB)

I had an opportunity to buy some more tools - tools that I didn’t need, but wanted. Funny thing about guys and tools, it seems like we can never have enough. Then I began to think about the difference between need and want. I really didn’t need the tools. The tools I had were working fine, but… Today’s verse speaks about man walking around as a phantom, making an uproar for nothing, amassing riches and not knowing who will gather them. I couldn’t help but think that I was gathering tools that I wasn’t really going to need. I began to feel foolish and thought about how I could have used that money more wisely. Sometimes we need a wakeup call so we’re not walking around mindlessly like a phantom.  We need a wakeup call that makes us think about the decisions we make. The understanding of want verses need… What do you want that you don’t really need?
