1 Timothy 3:5 – “…but if a man does not know how to manage his household, how will he take care of the church of God?” (NASB)
The piles were getting higher and higher. I just kept moving the paperwork from one side of the desk to the other. I kept putting this pile on top of that pile until one day, the piles fell over, and I had a mess all over the floor. I was too busy to take the time to get the paperwork in order and just kept putting one paper on top of another. Sooner or later, I needed to straighten it all out. Today’s verse speaks about a man who doesn't know how to manage his own household. How will this man be able to care for the Church of God? I was lacking in staying on top of my paperwork. I kept finding excuses until the pile fell over creating a bigger mess. I heard some great advice. It said, “Touch things only once, put them where they need to be the first time. Then you won't have such a mess of things." Simple, common sense, great advice, huh? Whether its paperwork, tools on a workbench, dirty clothes from a long day, or dishes after a meal, touch them once and maybe you will be able to care for His Church.
