Day 2, November 6, 2018 Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (NASB)
Loneliness can hit a man even in the midst of work. The attic stairs had fallen hard on me while I was working a house fire. As I laid there, I knew my fire crew would be looking for me, but those minutes seemed like hours. Today’s verse speaks about walking through the valley of the shadow of death and fearing no evil and gives us the reason why! I could feel the pressure of the stairs upon my back and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t move. Pinned against the ground, fire all around, I felt as if I was living today’s verse, being IN the shadow of death. That feeling of loneliness, stranded in a difficult position made me pray. I began to focus on my relationship with God, crying out to Him. It was at that point that I began to feel a sense of peace; that no matter what, God had me in the palm of His Hand. My crew eventually found me but during those minutes I realized God was truly with me, as part of the verse confirms.
