Daily Devotional for Sunday November 26, 2017

John 17:23 (NASB) I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

There were 14 of us who decided to go and help our brothers out in NYC after the planes hit on 9/11. The only problem was that the power that be didn’t want us to go. Our group met in the fire house and discussed what we should do. Like myself, many of us felt an urge. We felt a calling to go and help in any way we could. Sure, there were legal options to think about: what would happen if we got hurt or killed, etc. However, the desire in each of our hearts was to help. So, we joined together and made a decision that we had unstoppable unity in regard to going to Ground Zero to help our fellow fire fighters and others who were suffering. We boarded a train late Tuesday night and traveled all night to get there by morning; the day after the planes hit. One of the things I remember most of the journey was the family members… As we sat there, people began to find out who we were and where we were going. They brought us pictures of their loved ones and asked us to help find them. They prayed with us and for us – for God’s touch upon the work that we were heading to. They, in the middle of their own suffering, prayed for our safety. Joining forces to follow where He leads can have unstoppable unity IF we focus on Him and what He is calling us do to.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
