Daily Devotional for Saturday November 25, 2017

Hebrews 12:10 (NASB) For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.

I pray today’s reading finds you examining your relationships… with your parents, children, but especially with your Heavenly Father. For years, I was not the father I wanted to be. I knew all the right things to do, but found them out of reach. I thank God that He kept me from ever laying a hand on my children in my fits of anger, but the yelling was almost worse. I believe that it takes longer to heal that kind of hurt. I thank God, He showed me the light. I’m thankful that my wife had the strength to take a stand and my mom to help me through the hurt. Today, I live for Jesus. In living for Him, I find myself really loving my children and that means that there are times that discipline must happen. It is done with love to teach them God’s ways. To think God gives second chances to us! Thank God or else I would be out of the game. How about you? Have you been the best son, brother or father? How about the best child of the Living God?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
