1 Peter 2:2 – “… like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.” (NASB)
I couldn't believe my eyes. While helping out with a friend of mine, I watched as the new born piglets struggled to reach their mom in order to feed. Their eyes not even open and yet they had this desire, this urge within them, to find their mother and begin to nurse. The milk that she had was what they longed for and they kept crawling until they reached her to feed. Today's verse speaks of new born babies and longing for the pure milk of the Word. So that by it we may grow in respect to salvation. I wonder if we have that desire, that urge for the pure milk of God's Word or are we satisfied with just getting by. To urge for the pure milk means that we are willing to accept what it says… the parts that speak of His goodness, but also the parts that speak of our sin. Maybe we need childlike faith in believing that the Word of God is good for our souls and life. Are we willing to crawl to Him in our blindness, like those newly born piglets, no matter how old we are?
