Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (NASB)

As a young man, in my rush to get the starter replaced in my vehicle, I had jacked up the car and proceeded to crawl underneath and began removing the bolts. That's when I heard my father say, "Stop and get out from under there!" I wasn't sure at first why he was so harsh about me getting out from under the car, but then he shared some great advice. “You forgot to put the jack stands in place.” Meaning that at any moment the jack could have slipped and the car would have come crashing down on top of me. I needed the support of the jacks to do the job safely. In life, we will face things that will cause us to do... well some pretty stupid things. The key is having someone who can strengthen us along the way to get the job done. Enter today's verse... we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. It may just be minor discipline to get us back on the right track - like my dad did with me. So if we happened to hear a harsh word of discipline from the Lord, know He is only strengthening us to do the job safely. Let's be careful out there and make sure we have the right support to do the job we are called to do.
