Daily Devotional for Sunday November 19, 2017

1 Timothy 4:15 (NASB) Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.

Have you ever seen someone or had to deal with someone who gave the least amount of energy possible to a project? Could you see it on their face that they wanted to be anywhere else? Have you ever been in the same boat – only giving part of yourself to the task at hand? When I was first married, I was only giving part of myself to my wife. I wanted to be in the relationship when things were good, but I forgot about the marriage vow that says, “… good times AND BAD.” I was giving myself during the laughs and the joys, but when it came time for the pain and tears, I was emotionally and sometimes physically gone. It wasn’t right according to God’s design. As I began to understand this truth, I looked at the other areas of my life. I pushed to give 100% of myself in everything. That meant that I needed to give all of me while fixing kitchen sink. To do the best job I was able to do. We need to have the same view in giving 100% of ourselves as in receiving 100% of what has been shared with us even the criticism. With the Holy Spirit, we can handle the truth. How much of yourself are you giving? Try giving 100% and you’ll see the difference.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them
