John 3:7 – “Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again,’” (NASB)

30 years ago, I witnessed a miracle. I don't know how fathers stayed out of the room all those years ago, but I was blessed to be there when our first daughter was born. I can recall every minute of it: the pain my wife was going through, watching as this tiny life came into this world, watching her take her first breath outside the womb, and wondering to myself how blessed I was to witness her birth. Today's verse speaks of another birth, one that sometimes scares many when we say the words ‘born again’. Being born again is a far greater miracle than being born the first time. It's coming to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is the birth of a life away from our past and into new life. It is available to anyone and everyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ! You don't need a doctor or any fancy tools, just a simple prayer - admitting our failures, that we can't do it on our own, and accepting Jesus as our payment for our sin - yup that simple. Even though we may go through pain like our birth mothers did, the life that is born again cannot compare to our first birth. So if you don't know Jesus, say a simple prayer asking Jesus into your heart, just like my daughter did so many years ago.
