Daily Devotional for Tuesday November 07, 2017

1 Peter 2:9 (NASB) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Somewhere along the way, he lost sight of who he was. I had the opportunity to speak to a few pastors, and one man asked if he could talk with me after the workshop. He began to share that his church was failing, his marriage was on the rocks, and his children had written him off. He continued saying that he was a failure and not wanting to continue in ministry. Today's verse speaks the we, those who believe in Jesus Christ, are a chosen race, members of His Royal Priesthood, for His own possession, and that we may proclaim the excellencies of Him. Sometimes we may find ourselves questioning who and what we are. We may have forgotten the passion we had when we first believed; we may have simply lost our way. If we remember today's verse and hold it close to our heart, we will find the passion to realize that we are in fact His chosen people - men called by God to share His Son with others. I shared today's verse with that pastor, and as we prayed and talked about today's verse, he began to be energized by the Holy Spirit. Maybe you are in that place: wondering, questioning, and doubting... meditate upon today's verse and find peace and power in the Holy Spirit to keep going.

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
