Psalm 42:11 “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” (NASB)
It didn't go as planned, and yet he found a reason to be happy. I had been asked to speak at a men's event, and as we waited for the men to arrive, it seemed as if maybe everyone had the wrong date for no one showed up as planned. You would have thought the man who set it up would have been devastated, but he wasn't. He had a reason to rejoice no matter what the situation was. Today's verse asks why our soul in despair. I am sure many of us have had those days, finding ourselves disturbed by some chain of events, and yet the end of the verse speaks of finding hope in God and praising Him. It states that our help comes from God. Facing life, we will have those moments of disappointment, but regardless of what goes on around us, if we have God, Christ in our hearts, the Spirit within us, we can rejoice for we know our help comes from the Lord. So, don't look at the problems you may be facing, look at our God who is much larger than anything we face and rejoice for He is OUR God!!
