John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (NASB)
When we finally got there, we didn't want to fish. A group of us boys knew of a pond way back in the woods; so, we decided to go fishing there one day. It took us over an hour to walk through the brush to finally find the pond. However, the pond was stinky, smelly, and full of stagnant water. We tried to cast a few lures, but we didn't get a single bite. Today's verse speaks of Jesus being the vine, and we are the branches. We who abide in him will bear much fruit, without Him we can do nothing. The pond had become stagnant because there was no flow of water to it. It sat there in the hot sun and became a pond of dirty water. The fish had all died due to the condition of the pond. On our way out, we happened to meet the man who own it. He told us that years before someone had dammed up the water that fed the pond, thereby leaving it lifeless. When our walk on this earth isn't filled with the Living Water of Christ, we will become like the pond... a lifeless, smelly thing. Who wants to be around someone like that? So, let's make sure we are connected to the Living Water of Christ. Simply open the Bible, pray, and follow the Spirit's lead. Then we will have Life and abundant Life at that.
