1 Peter 5:8 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (NASB)
In any sport today, one of the ways to ensure a win is to know your enemy. Some sports figures watch hours of films to know their opponent. In battle or war, knowing your enemy will help with the success of any attempt to overthrow them. So why, when we face an adversary that separates us from the love of God, do we just seem not to care? The devil uses so many tricks to get us to second guess ourselves. One of the tricks he uses with me is to bring up my past – the times when I have fallen short; the times when I was angry, or when I choose to do the wrong thing. He brings them up and tries to get me to think that God couldn’t love a man like me. We must know our enemy, and I know that he lies. One of his lies is that God doesn’t care. God cares for each of us. He cares for you today as you read this, and He is there for you today and every day. So, let’s face our enemy knowing that he is a liar and God is truth.
