James 1:6 “But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” (NASB)
I couldn't even let it enter my mind. Standing out in front of my first structure fire, the thought of "what if" began to pop up. There were many "what if's." What if I don't make it out alive? What if I can't find the person trapped? What if we don't get water once inside? I had to put them out of my mind and enter without the doubt of the "what ifs." Today's verse speaks about asking in faith without doubting for doubting is like being driven by the sea and tossed by the wind. In life, we will face those moments of doubt. They may cause us to not take the path before us or clearly think through the decision we need to make. Just imagine if the "what ifs" of doubt were changed to the "what ifs" of God... that would mean that our faith in God would be stronger than our faith in our doubts. God can do all things. Do we really believe that? Think of all the things we wouldn't have if the people who invented them believed the doubt of "what if" instead of forging ahead. Don't let the doubt of "what if" keep you from the things God is calling you to. Step out in faith without doubting rather than standing idle and wondering "what if."
