Daily Devotional for Friday May 04, 2018

Proverbs 27:6 (NASB) Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.

I wish it was that easy, and maybe it is. All it takes is a click, and you can become friends with someone on social media. In real life, though, it takes more than a click of a button. Today's verse speaks of friends and enemies. Sure, social media is a great way to make friends and stay in touch with ones we haven't seen in a while. However, nothing compares to face-to-face meetings where we can see their face, hear their voice and the inflections of what they are saying to us. Relationships are key to getting to know someone rather than reading their "about" page. How much could we grow in our relationship with Christ if we spent less time on His social media and more time in prayer and His Word?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
