Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” (NASB)
Sometimes, it's not about the fishing. While sitting dockside one day, I observed a unique exchange. One fisherman was catching all the fish while another one sat and wondered why he wasn't having as much success. I watched as the man, who wasn't catching anything, walk over to the successful fisherman. They spoke for a moment, then the successful one reached into his tackle box and handed the other man something. Soon, both men were catching their fair share of the fish. Today's scripture speaks of giving and it will be given to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over. As I continued to watch, the once unsuccessful fisherman was gathering up his gear to leave, but before he walked away, he went back to the man who shared "his secret", and gave him the bucket of fish he caught. When he poured his fish into the other man's bucket, it overflowed with fish! I learned the lesson of today's verse in real-life action! I wonder how much we are giving as we wonder why our buckets are empty.
