1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (NASB)
I overheard their conversation and was proud. As family gathered together to share a meal, I happened to overhear a conversation between two siblings. "Sure, I can do that for you. When do you need me there?" It was one sister saying it to another, and I felt proud that my daughters were engaging life together. Today's verse speaks of providing for his own, those of his household and if not, he has denied the faith. As many gathered to celebrate the life of a young lady, you could see the love between all those present. I thought to myself that no matter what our last names may be, we were family brought together by the life of that young lady who was now living with Jesus. I thought of church life and how all those who celebrate together are family because of what Jesus Christ has done. Then I wondered how many don't know that love of family or the love of Jesus Christ. Maybe it's time the family of God begins to adopt. They maybe strangers at first, but soon they will be sitting around a table breaking bread together. So, let's not keep it in the family, but stop denying our faith and begin to invite a stranger to dine with us.
