1 John 2:3-4 “By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, ‘I have come to know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.’” (NASB)
We should have taken the weight off first. I read them, read them again, and then proceeded to not follow them. My son-in-law, uncle and I were tearing a John Deere Farm Tractor apart and the first step in the instructions was to take the weight off the front of the tractor. We got the job done, but it could have gone easier if we would have simply followed the instructions. Today's verse speaks of knowing Him, Christ, and one way is to keep His commandments. They are, in fact, His instructions. They are in the Bible, but it's one thing to read them and quite another to follow them! In life, we may get the job done, but it could be a lot easier if we simply follow His instructions instead of trying to do it on our own. The weight we carry by doing it "our" way, may just make life a whole lot heavier. So why not make it easier by following His instructions? This way the Truth can be in us!
