Daily Devotional for Friday March 22, 2019

Romans 1:12 “…that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.”

I just stood there - watching and listening. Two men who had worked together and risked their lives together fighting fires and I stood in awe of some of the stories I had heard about them. Times when they had risked their lives trying to save others; times of how they were growing old. They had more than fighting fires in common. They both had a love of Jesus Christ. Today's verse speaks about how we may be encouraged together by the others faith - both yours and mine. These two men, one being my father, not only shared fighting fires, but they had a faith in God that drew them to a deeper friendship than just co-workers. I know they pray for each other, visit each other, talk on the phone with each other building one another up in Christ. That's true discipleship; that's men having a common bond past their occupations. Who are you being encouraged by? Who are you encouraging past the day to day of work?
