Matthew 24:42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.” (NASB)

The shelves were empty; the lines at the gas pump were long. At the announcement of a major snow storm heading our way, people began to make arrangements for what could be a long winter storm. They were stocking up on things that would need in case of the worst. The bread, milk, eggs, and other staple items seemed to disappear from the shelves as people were getting ready. Today's verse speaks of being alert for we do not know which day our Lord is coming. Wouldn't it be a wonderful thought if we prepared for the Lord's coming as we do snowstorms or other natural disasters? No one is promised tomorrow, so the Lord could call us home right now. What would we do differently? Our decisions may just be made with the thought that it could be the last thing we ever did. How about the people we love, or the stranger that we cut off on the road; the person we walk by that could use a little help. Would our life be different if we knew Christ was coming? Well... He is. One day we will all see Him face-to-face. I wonder if our shelves will be stocked and our gas tanks full. Don't wait till it's too late. Start a relationship with Christ today by simply calling out to Him. It could be the best preparations for what is to come that you ever make.
