Proverbs 19:20 (ESV) Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

You never know when you will need it, but it's good to have it there. The phone rang, and I was called to go help in an emergency. I didn't have to think about what I needed to bring, it was automatic. Today's scripture shares about listening to advice and accepting instructions, and one day we may gain wisdom. For years growing up, I watched my dad act in situations where he needed to have a clear head, get things together to help in any situation. Afterwards, he would share how and why he did what he did and why he brought what he brought. Little did I know that he was teaching me, giving me instructions, for a time when I would be called upon. God wants nothing more than to teach us His ways. In fact, the Bible is filled with His advice and instructions. The key, of course, is whether we are listening to Him and accepting His advice. If we do, we will have the wisdom to know how to handle things when situations unfold. Are we listening and following His advice?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
