Daily Devotional for Friday March 16, 2018

Scripture:

Proverbs 12:22 (ESV) Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.

Observation:

They didn't want to hear the truth. The couple lived in their house for a few years when they noticed that one wall was starting to lean in. They called me to see if I could find out why, and what could be done about it. Today's verse speaks of how lying lips are an abomination, and those who act faithfully are His delight. As I began to investigate the problem, I found that the previous owners had put on an addition to the house. The only problem was that they didn't get a permit, or follow safety codes to build it. The pressure from the roof load wasn't tied to the rest of the structure causing the wall to give out under the weight. In life, we may think that a simple lie won't hurt anyone, but eventually the truth will come out and that can lead to a disaster. Better to tell the truth from the start, then we will be able to stand up straight!

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
