One-Week Theme: BUSINESS PRACTICES Day 5 Ephesians 4:28 “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” (ESV)

We called them “labor fakers”. You know those guys who show up at the job site and at the end of the day, having nothing to show for their time spent there. His job was simply to put the files in order and in the appropriate file draws but as the day ended. The pile was higher than when he got there. Today’s verse speaks about those who used to steal, not doing it any longer but rather working honestly and having something to share with those in need. As we left the office, I heard one of the men refer to the new guy as a “labor faker”. I knew instantly what he was referring to as I had passed his desk a few times and found him on his phone more than on the pile of files. The sad reality is that the man didn’t’ last the week, he had been let go for his business practices (the theme for this week!). But the real miracle happened when the owner called the man aside and took the time to explain why he was let go and after working with him for a few weeks, he rehired the man! He now runs a major section of the company. When we allow the things of God, and the practices of honest work habits enter our lives, life changes!
