Philippians 4:19 (ESV) And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
I didn't get what I wanted, but I got what I needed. When fishing with my dad, sometimes we came away without any fish, but the trip was still a success based upon what I needed. My dad would use the time waiting for the fish to bite to teach me lessons of life. He would give little bits of information that a young boy needs along the way. Today's verse speaks of how God will supply all our needs. Notice that the verse doesn't speak of getting what we want but what we need. Sure, the fish would have been great, but they would only last a meal where the lessons from my dad last a life time. Even today, at an older age, the time spent "fish-talking" with my dad outweighs any lunker I could bring in the boat. So, if you're looking for wants, you may just get what you need instead! Who are you fish-talking with?
