One-Week Theme: BUSINESS PRACTICES Day 4 Deuteronomy 8:18 “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (ESV)

As our fourth day continues the theme of business practices, we look at where real wealth comes from. At a recent small men’s group, the topic came up about the “get rich quick” schemes that had been advertised lately. One man admitted that he had fallen into the trap, loosing quite a bit of money. Today’s verse teaches us to remember where the power comes from to get wealth. Joe, the man from the small group, admitted his rush to make it big by using the get rich quick scheme had in fact cost him more in the long run. He told the group that he forgot the fact that God is in control and that includes his wealth. Admitting the weakness of our flesh when it comes to financial gain, can lead us down a path where we think we got the power when the reality is that all we have, and the power to get more comes from the Lord.
