Daily Devotional for Tuesday March 06, 2018

Scripture:

Philippians 3:13 (NASB) Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

Observation:

It was time to let go of the past. While checking out my spring fishing equipment, I realized that the fishing line on my favorite pole needed to be changed. It may seem kind of funny, but I have fond memories of the fish I caught and the memories I share with my dad (my fishing partner). Regardless, it was time to put on new line. Today's verse speaks of forgetting what lies behind and reaching for what lies ahead. Sure, the times with that line brought me some great memories, but if I don't change it, there is a chance I might lose a prize fish this year. In life, we may want to hold on to things longer than we should. The past can keep us locked in place, and we miss new adventures that Christ is calling us to. So, don't be afraid to let go of the old and reach for what lies ahead... with God, it will truly be something to remember!

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
