Daily Devotional for Sunday March 04, 2018

Scripture:

Matthew 8:17 (NASB) This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases.”

Observation:

I was reminded of a favorite line my father uses... "Health is the crown on a well man's head that only a sick person can see." I spent the day with a friend and his mom as we took her to the emergency room to see just what was causing her health to be in decline. As I sat there watching people continue to come into the emergency room with health problems, I realized just how blessed I was with good health. Today's verse shares that Jesus Himself took our infirmities and our diseases. Sometimes it’s hard to understand that if Jesus took them, why do we still suffer? Maybe one day we will truly know, but He took them upon Himself while on the Cross. He understands the pain we suffer. When we see those suffering, we are reminded of what He went through for us. How do we treat those who suffer while we enjoy good health? Are we doing enough for others?

Application:

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotion: Read this chapter with your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them and discuss. Pray with them.
