Song of Solomon 8:6(NASB) “Put me like a seal over your heart, Like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, Jealousy is as severe as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, The very flame of the Lord.
“Does she know I love her?” Lyrics from a song made me stop and wonder. I can tell my wife that I love her, but does she know? Mens’ attitude about telling and showing love to our wives is something we can always do better at. We assume they know (and sometimes they don’t know). I used to tell Carol, my wife, how much I loved her, but when it came time to show her—it wasn’t there. My actions did not reflect my words. Men, we NEED to show our love more. I know some of you are saying, “But I do this, and I do that.” “Yeah so what. If she feels that she is not loved, where does all that get us?” Even though today’s reading is about our relationship to each other, I wonder about our relationship with God. Are they just words? Do we say it and not live it? When it comes time to put the words into action is there anything there? Our love for our wife and our love for God are related. The Bible often refers to Christ as the bridegroom and we, the Church, as His bride. If we can’t love our wife or understand when she is feeling unloved, how can we understand the relationship between Christ and His Church? We need to do a better job and start today. We might not have tomorrow. Love them today by your actions!
