John 5:19 (ESV) “So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.’”
I had heard the stories but didn't really understand them until I was older. I had the unique opportunity to follow my dad into the fire department. As a kid, I heard some of the stories of what he did on the job. Later on, I experienced many of those things myself. Today's verse speaks about Jesus and His Father. I’m sure I was not half the firefighter my dad was, but I remember the stories men told of how he bravely entered burning buildings, and then boldly brought Christ into the fire house. I hold today's verse closely to my heart as I try to do what I saw my dad doing. Maybe not in the same way but with the same purpose—to bring honor to God. I pray we all do as Jesus did; the exact same things we see the Father do.
