1 John 4:1 (NASB) “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Okay, maybe this is the one. While on vacation recently, I decided to put the map away, turn the GPS off and just walk. We took the trolley downtown and decided to walk back to the waterfront. The only problem was about half way back, we got turned around and ended up guessing if the street we were taking would take us to where we needed to be. Today's verse speaks very clearly about not believing every spirit... that we are to test them to see whether they are from God. Think about that for a second. There are spirits among us that are false. Ones that are not from God. Like a few of the streets that led us nowhere, there are spirits that will not lead us to God or to where God would like us to be in life. We had to ask for directions in order to get back on track and headed in the right direction. Maybe it's time we test the spirits to make sure they are from God and get back on track and headed in His direction. We could also turn on God's GPS (AKA the Bible). What street are you walking down?
