2 Timothy 1:10 (ESV) “…and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel…”

I’ll never forget the few nights I spent with my father-in-law as he battled cancer, his death close at hand. Some of the family had agreed to spend the nights with him to give my mother-in-law a chance to rest. During the last week of his life we talked a lot. I had seen death many times in my years with the fire dept., but this was different. This was family. My wife and I were worried that he didn’t have a right relationship with God. We both knew he’d lived a good life, helped others, etc. But we realized dad probably hadn’t given his heart to Jesus. So, one night I asked him. We had talked about building houses, working on cars, fishing and golf (all the topics we had in common) but we had never spoken of a relationship with Christ. I asked, ‘Dad, do you know Jesus?’ He replied, ‘Yes, I know Him, and I know He loves me and I am sorry for my sin.’ Dad faded and passed away shortly after. I was glad I’d asked. Now I knew. Dad was going home to be with his Father. So I’ll ask you the same question. Do you know Him? If you do, ask another man the same question. Make sure he has a chance to answer!
