Luke 6:48 (NASB) he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
Night after night, he went out only to go out again early the next morning. I remember spending hours skating on our backyard ice rink as a young boy. The hours of fun… games of hockey. The memories are still strong in my mind. Recently, I became aware of the hours of work my dad spent putting water on the frozen ground to make that ice rink. Night after night, he spent hours watering the snow until it froze. Each layer of ice building upon the next. He would go out early in the morning and cover the ice rink with snow to protect it from the sun. I remember him saying that the ice rink needed a strong foundation to be strong enough to skate on. For us to have strong faith, we need to build upon a good foundation too. We need to build on our foundation day and night to product us from attacks and to have the strength to stand when temptation comes. When was the last time you watered your faith?
