Daily Devotional for Monday January 21, 2019

John 17:15-16 “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” (NASB)

Okay. Now, let’s be honest. How many of us haven’t passed a sign stating, “WET PAINT,” and not wanted to reach out to see if it was wet? There’s just something about our manly nature that makes us want to reach out and test it. How about passing an accident? Don’t we all slow down to see what happened? Way back in the Garden, we all fell away from God when Adam and Eve choose to believe the lie. Due to their choice, we have within us that evil nature. There is the old saying that your eyes are the windows to your soul. Think about it. We can look into a person’s eyes and see if they are having a bad day or a good day. We can choose by what we see with our eyes to allow good or bad into our souls. It comes down to choice. What are you allowing into your soul?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
