Daily Devotional for Sunday January 13, 2019

Scripture:

James 1:22-24 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.” (ESV)

Observation:

INTEGRITY/HONOR, a Men’s Ministries one-week daily devotional.

Day 7

Yes, I can do that, and that, and even that! While we sat around at the job site, we began to discuss each part of the job. One of the new hires began to tell us how he knew this and that about the job he was just hired for. When it came time to put his words into action, he realized he didn’t really know how to do many of those things! As we wrap up the week themed Integrity/Honor, today’s verse speaks about being doers of God’s Word, not just hearers. How it is like looking in a mirror one minute and walking away and forgetting what we saw in it. Although the young man was eager to show how much he knew, he was actually deceiving himself in what he could do.
