Daily Devotional for Thursday January 11, 2018

Psalm 126:2 (NASB) Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

Sometimes we just sit and laugh. Meeting with an old pastor friend of mine, we sometimes share stories that make each other laugh. Situations in our life that have funny endings—the joy and laughter that we share are wonderful times of refreshment. Today's verse speaks of laughter and joy, and how it is because the Lord has done great things for them. Sometimes in life we can become so consumed with doing this and that, that we miss the joy and laughter that life can bring. I know when I leave my friend's home, after sharing a good laugh or two, I always come away blessed having more joy for the day ahead. I think there are times when we take life too seriously and forget about the joy that the Lord brings to us. That's if we look and listen for it. Why not take a moment and think of a funny story or joke and share it with a friend? It doesn't take much, a simple "Did you hear the one about..."

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
