Daily Devotional for Thursday January 04, 2018

Psalm 25:9 (NASB) He leads the humble in justice, and He teaches the humble His way.

It happened many years ago. I was driving down my street behind a neighbor. We came to an intersection, and I watched as he drove out into traffic and out of nowhere was hit broadside by another car. I had two options: drive past or stop and help. I was late for an appointment, so the urge was to leave. Surely someone else would stop. There were other drivers around. Then, I heard His voice, “Go and help.” My neighbor and I didn’t know each other very well. I saw him here and there and delivered newspapers to his house when I was younger, but that was it. Stopping that day made the difference to him. Years later, he continued to bring it up to my parents… the time I stopped and helped him. Listening to God’s whispers can have an effect for years to come. We have to humble ourselves to hear what He is whispering to us. What is He asking you to do for Him today?

Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
