Romans 15:1-2 “Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.” (NASB)
Daily Theme: IRON SHARPENING IRON
The reason it works is that the stone is harder than the iron! When using a grinding wheel to sharpen the edge of a knife or tool, the grinding wheel is stronger than the metal of the tool, so it begins to sharpen it. Today is Day 5 of Iron sharpening Iron, and God’s Word speaks to us who are strong, not physically strong but strong in our walk with the Lord! We have a responsibility to those who are without strength and not just please ourselves! As the grinding begins to take place, there is heat involved (don’t touch the tool, it will be hot!) and gradually the tool edge will begin to get sharp again. We who are strong in our walk with Christ, need to heat up our fellow brothers who are without strength. This week of devotions gives us some great examples of how we can “heat up” other men and sharpen them for the cause of Christ! BE AWARE, that as the grinding wheel grinds the tool, little pieces of the stone begin to fall away, that indicates to us to be aware that we can wear down, so take care of yourself to keep up your strength!
